  • Overview

    The Assistant Project Manager supports the day-to-day project management operations on projects and provides support for the Project Manager. Responsible for reviewing and tracking contracts, pricing, purchase orders, change orders, shop drawings, submittals, insurance certificates and Requests for Information (RFI), all using Expedition programs. This individual is also responsible for submitting for building permits, planning revision submissions to municipalities; collaborating with legal counsel on contract and insurance modifications and discrepancies; addressing trade partner challenges; capturing and distributing weekly video and meeting minutes; coordinating meetings, revised drawings and warranty certificates with trade partners; and assembling project close out manuals.

    • Enters, tracks and reviews contracts and purchase orders, shop drawings, submittals and insurance certificates.          
    • Creates and updates vendor and subcontractor contact log.             
    • Prices and creates Proposed Change Orders. 
    • Submits, tracks responses and issues Requests for Information. 
    • Submits proper documentation for building permits and follows through to ensure permits are issued.
    • Plans revision submissions to municipality.
    • Follows up on contracts, insurance certificates, insurance discrepancies and contract modifications with company legal counsel.
    • Communicates with subcontractor to address and resolve any outstanding or current issues.
    • Assists with project schedule narratives.
    • Takes weekly video and progress photos for distribution to Project
    • Documents weekly meeting minutes during owner’s and subcontractor’s meetings and distributes to appropriate personnel.
    • Sets up coordination meetings with Subcontractors and distributes revised drawings.
    • Writes descriptions for purchase orders and subcontract requests.
    • Obtains, tracks and maintains subcontractor warranty certificates.
    • Obtains information for and assembles close out manuals.
    • Assists Project Manager with any additional duties.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 2 years in commercial construction.
    • Concrete construction knowledge and analytical skill a plus.
    • Knowledge of CAD and BIM software preferred.
    • Knowledge and ability in project planning and cost estimating.
    • A strong understanding of the critical importance of project safety.
    • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency with PC computers and software including Microsoft Office, Digital Takeoff programs, Bluebeam, Onscreen Takeoff, Autocad, Microsoft Project and Timberline desired.
    • Ability to work in a professional, team oriented environment.

    Working Conditions

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
