    The Senior Project Accountant’s main responsibility is to ensure that the company’s projects’ financial performance is correctly measured on a monthly basis as well as providing the Project Management team with accounting support.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare monthly accounting and reporting on a multitude of projects within the Southeast division.
    • Responsible for project accounting, accurate monthly billing, job cost reporting, and reconciliation.
    • Be knowledgeable about all aspects of Project Accounting and each job assigned to the team and is responsible for managing the following:
      • Prepare the monthly requisitions to customers/owner,
      • Process budget updates,
      • Prepare cost transfers,
      • Process subcontractor requisitions,
      • Ensure the subcontractor is complying with terms and conditions of the contract (i.e. insurance, billing procedures, etc.),
      • Process accounts payable invoices, obtain lien releases from vendors, etc.
      • Track & reconcile costs of third party labor companies,
      • Select invoices to be included in the weekly disbursement cycle,
      • The person will work closely with the Controllers and Project Managers on all facets of project accounting and administration issues.
    • Manage cash collection activity on all monthly billings to ensure timely receipt, post deposits, as well as prepare cash forecast.
    • Prepare monthly WIP reporting to corporate, including explanations for changes to budget, prior month, etc.
    • Develop productivity reports for Project Managers to analyze labor and material productivity vs. budget, and propose forecast modifications as needed.
    • Participate in division management, client and project meetings as required.

     

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of three-six years of finance/accounting experience, preferably accounting, reporting, financial planning, forecasting, & analysis skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. Advanced degree a plus.
    • Strong data management and accounting reconciliation skills (attention to detail).
    • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel & exposure to project management software a plus.

    Working Conditions

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
